The Sports Minister María Isabel Urrutia assured this Monday that “The Women’s League in Colombia already has a sponsor”.
According to the head of the portfolio that was born in the previous government, the entity “made some steps, some movements to that the women’s league works at least eleven months“, as he told ‘Blu radio’.
As explained by Urrutia, “We already found the sponsor.”
Under that idea, he added, the State would not be in charge of financing the tournament.
The upcoming women’s league
According to the minister, it is difficult for all the teams that participate in the men’s branch of Colombian soccer to have representation in the women’s tournament.
“We have around 350 women throughout the country playing soccer. They are very settled in Antioquia and Valle del Cauca. They would not reach for all the teamsUrrutia said.
“There would be no need for a public budget for the league. We would promote the leagues, through the work of minor divisions,” he added.
As he stated, the agreement that would be made public next week contemplates that there be a fixed tournament for at least five years.
“Between Five and Six”he complemented.
Until now, as Fernando Jaramillo, president of Dimayor, had told EL TIEMPO, the idea of his entity was to present a three-year plan with a sponsor that would assume the Women’s League from 2023, with 20 teams and activity throughout the year. year, until October, when the Copa Libertadores is played.
It should be remembered that América and Deportivo Cali will play the 2022 edition of the continental tournament in October and, for now, they will have to look for preparation matches, given the impossibility of playing the local tournament.
The rest of the competitions
Questioned about the Formula 1 project in Barranquilla, Urrutia replied: “The past government left everything unfinanced.”
