Seven victories in the last eight races, with only one zero due to a crash that has given breath to the title hopes of Danilo Petrucci, now again forced to chase: Jake Gagne he is playing his cards to the best of his ability to get a chance in World Superbike with Yamaha in 2023. The American rider, in fact, won both races with authority in Pittsburgh and returned to command the MotoAmerica standings with 290 points, one in more than Danilo Petrucci.
The Ducati rider finished in second position in Race-1, but in Race-2 he was unable to contain the irresistible comeback of Matthew Scholtz, who finally returned to being the protagonist after too many rounds in the shadows. Race-1 was distinguished by the red flags and helped Petrucci in defending second place from Cameron Petersen, while Jake Gagne always remained at the top every time the traffic lights went out.
Race-2, on the other hand, had no interruptions and saw Petrucci rise from fourth to second place only to give way to Scholtz, with whom there was no shortage of sparks at the beginning of the season. Now on the calendar they still remain two appointments scheduled for September. From 9 to 11 it will take place at Barber motorsport and then two weeks later in Alabama.
Jake Gagne seems unbeatable and it will not be easy for Petrucci to reverse this trend. A hand could come from weather forecast if it rains, given that in the Pittsburgh warm-up in the wet the rider from Terni gave everyone two seconds. Below are the salient images of the two races held over the weekend.
