Two people from the repair team that served the Antonovsky bridge died during the shelling of the crossing. This was announced on August 22 by the deputy head of the military-civilian administration (CAA) Kirill Stremousov.

Earlier that day, it was reported that at least 15 people were injured as a result of the shelling of the Antonovsky bridge across the Dnieper in Kherson by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU). On August 8, Stremousov reported that after shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Antonovsky Bridge received minimal damage. Ukrainian militants delivered another blow to the Antonovsky bridge across the Dnieper earlier that day. Construction equipment and the roadway were damaged, which is why the opening of the bridge, scheduled for August 10, was postponed.
On August 4, the Ukrainian military also carried out a missile attack on Kherson, and the Russian air defense system went off.
The Kherson region of Ukraine, which borders Crimea, came completely under the control of the Russian military in mid-March.
Russia continues the special operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24. The situation in the region escalated in February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. DPR and LPR turned to Moscow for help.
