There was an enigmatic work on the eastern edge of Väinö Tanner’s field. Now the perpetrator was revealed.
HS told earlier in Sörnäis, at Kaikukatu 1, located on the eastern edge of Väinö Tanner’s field from a symbolic monument.
It appeared out of nowhere on the side of the street and was there for a while until it was broken. No one seemed to know where the tile had come from or who had made it.

The maintenance of the city of Helsinki was just as bad as the reader who complained about the monument. The latest twist happened on Wednesday. Stara’s employees had prepared to pick up the broken work.
However, it had disappeared.
HS asked the readers if anyone knew what the work was about.
Then it snapped.
One reader suggested that the work is by a student at the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of the Arts Valo Vairion33, handwriting.
Vairio attaches irons to the concrete leg.
Variant according to the sculpture has no official name. However, he has heard that people use it as a name, among other things A sword in the stone.
This refers to the legend of King Arthur pulling the sword Excalibur out of the stone.
“The idea started from the concrete footing that was already on the site, which I had noted. The place inspires. It was as if something was missing,” Vairio says.

Vairio says that based on the Google Maps map application, there used to be a post on the spot. It had a wire at the end, which was attached to the wall on the other side of the street at one end. A road sign was hanging from the wire.
“This pedestal, which used to be the leg of the post, felt low, so I decided to raise it a little. I had already cast the sword from aluminum for another purpose, but somehow it found its place in the cement base,” says Vario.
The artist’s according to the work partly tells about the spontaneous, temporary use of urban space.
“And about the mystery, which now little by little seems to be dissipating. My intention was to delight and surprise. Based on the feedback I received, it has fulfilled its purpose.”
Vario has heard that earlier attempts have been made to pull the aluminum sword out of the cement, “at least in a playful way”.
The fact that the work had been successfully knocked down came as a surprise to Vairio, as it was firmly bolted to the original concrete base. He does not know how the work was detached.
Despite everything, the story of “Kaikakutu Excalibur” has a happy ending.
“At the moment, the work is well protected,” Vairio says.
