Some reports had talked about the possibility of Jimmy Vardy, 35, moving to Manchester United, so that Leicester City put an end to those rumors, according to the agency “Reuters”.
Vardy joined Leicester City from the amateur team Fleetwood Town in 2012, and is currently ranked third in the team’s historical scorer list, with 164 goals scored in 387 games in all competitions.
“I’m absolutely delighted,” Vardy said on the Leicester website. “I never hesitated to sign. The decision was easy, because I’ve been here for so long that I see myself as part of the furniture.”
Vardy scored 17 goals in all competitions last season, and played a prominent role in the club winning the Premier League title in the 2015-2016 season, as well as winning the FA Cup in the 2020-2021 season.
Leicester did not achieve any victory in the first two rounds of the current Premier League season, knowing that it will meet its guest Southampton in the third round later on Saturday.
