Deyna Castellanos and Oriana Altuve scored the goals this Friday with which Venezuela unraveled a tangled match and beat Peru 0-2 fighter on the third date of Group B of the Copa América played at the Centennial Stadium in Armenia.
Those led by the Italian Pamela Conti reached six points and occupy third place in the area with six units, the same number of points as Brazil and Argentina that beat them by goal difference.
Peru has a very distant mathematical option
With the defeat, the Blanquirroja, for its part, was practically eliminated, even from the possibility of playing the match for fifth place, which gives a place in the playoffs to the 2023 Australia-New Zealand World Cup.

La Vinotinto tried to gain dominance from the start under the leadership of Castellanos, a Manchester City player, who jumped a few meters back to try to join her teammates. However, the first clear opportunity came for the Blanquirroja with a shot by Scarleth Flores, after grabbing a rebound from a corner kick, which crashed into the left post of Nayluisa Cáceres’ goal.
The Venezuelans maintained dominance, without depth, but found the first goal at minute 38, when a bad rejection by captain Fabiola Herrera left a ball in her area to Castellanos, who got rid of Millonarios goalkeeper Maryory Sánchez and celebrated her second goal in the championship.
At the beginning of the complementary stage, the Peruvians were about to equalize with a very strong shot by Sandra Arévalo that crashed into the post. However, their rivals were the ones who maintained dominance and continued to attack, led by Altuve, Castellanos and Ysaura Viso, who came on after the break for Paola Villamizar.
Just in that tidal wave of attacks came the 2-0 when Altuve, second historical scorer in the Colombian League with Santa Fe, won a rebound after a play in which Viso finished off the goal and saved the Peruvian goalkeeper, sending the ball to the bottom from the net at minute 63.
La Vinotinto maintained dominance and was even about to increase the advantage in the final minutes, with a shot off the post by Altuve, and their rivals looked worn and lost intensity in attack.
Argentina thrashed and is excited about qualifying
In the early hours, a hat-trick by Yamila Rodríguez, a Boca Juniors player, got Argentina out of trouble, which thrashed Uruguay 5-0 on the third day of Group B of the Copa América Femenina and keeps alive its aspirations of reaching the semifinals.

In addition to Rodríguez’s goals, the experienced Estefanía Banini and winger Eliana Stábile, known in Colombia for having joined the Atlético Huila squad that won the Copa Libertadores in 2018, scored for the Albiceleste.
On the next day, scheduled for Monday, Venezuela will face the favorite Brazil, while Peru will play its fate against the Uruguayans, who with the result of today’s match were completely eliminated.
