Although the first Bioshock launched in 2006, the game also received a very quickly forgotten version, namely BioShock 3D launched on mobile devices in 2010. But beware, not on iPhones or any other minimally “powerful” Android platform at the time, but on older generation phones, which required rework and overhaul.
The problem is that this BioShock 3D was never completed. Only the first four levels were released and a select group was able to download it. There are loads of demos on YouTube, showing the gameplay of this later stranded project.
If BioShock 3D has made a comeback it’s because completely new gameplay has just resurfaced on YouTube. This shows the end of the game and a mythical scene, where Jack, the hero, meets Andrew Ryan in the flesh. Despite the minimalist graphics, we can see true fidelity with the original game, whether in the dialogues or gestures, or in the rhythm.
Poornima Seetharaman, lead designer who previously worked at Tridev, the studio behind BioShock 3D, confirmed the veracity of these exclusive images: “yes, these are the levels we did“, he has declared. “I don’t know if these levels are the final versions, you know how it is with video game development. But yes, if I remember correctly, they are almost, if not 100% finished“.
