Blockade broken
On Tuesday 28 June, things went wrong at the home of Minister Van der Wal. Although the entrance to the house was blocked by the police, farmers managed to break through the blockade. Firecrackers were thrown on the minister’s property and a police car was destroyed by the farmers. A slurry tank was also emptied and other rubbish left behind at the home of Van der Wal, who was not at home at the time.
The situation was so unsafe that officers had to choose for their own safety and not intervene. Earlier there were also actions by farmers at the house of the minister. They are angry because of the nitrogen plans that Van der Wal has recently presented.
