Today, Saturday, the Ukrainian presidency said on its website that President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed his country’s ambassadors to five countries.
The dismissal included Andrei Melnik, Ukraine’s ambassador to Germany.
Zelensky announced, in a decree, the dismissal of the ambassadors of Ukraine to Germany, India, the Czech Republic, Norway and Hungary.
It was not immediately clear whether the envoys would be transferred to new posts.
Zelensky urged his country’s diplomats to mobilize international support and military aid to Ukraine.
Melnik was known for his repeated requests to Germany to provide more support to his country in the form of heavy weapons.
German media, including the newspapers “Bild” and “Süddeutsche Zeitung”, quoted Ukrainian sources that Melnik will be transferred to the Foreign Ministry in Kyiv.
