The uncertainty for the Women’s Soccer League remains, one day after the assembly of Dimayor clubs, practically, gave thumbs down to its realization in the second half of the year.
The decision generated a strong reaction from the members of the Colombian women’s team who, first, published a message on social networks asking for guarantees and equity for their work.
The players’ protest message
“Today we unite for change. Although we lack guarantees, we have plenty of love for this shirt, that’s why we unite with the illusion of teamwork, fairness in working conditions and competition, concerted decisions and a bright future for all of us who are part of FutFem”, was the message that appeared on the players’ social networks.

The idea was reinforced during the protocol acts before the match between Colombia and Paraguay, in the women’s Copa América. The players listened to the national anthem with their arms raised, just as they had done on social media.
Press versions claimed, after the Cup game, that the situation had been unblocked and that the Colombian Football Federation had ordered the tournament to take place, so be it with eight teams, nine fewer than in the first half.
Fernando Jaramillo, from Dimayor, speaks out
However, in communication with EL TIEMPO this Friday, at 10:34 pm, Fernando Jaramillo, president of Dimayor, denied that version.
“There has been talk that if eight clubs request to play, and until now I don’t have that letter, I can make a League starting in August, from the administrative point of view there would be no problem. But I need the clear and express will of at least eight clubs, and that is what we have discussed with Minister Herrera and with President Ramón. I am waiting for that letter from those eight clubs,” Jaramillo declared.

Fernando Jaramillo – Women’s League
La Dimayor assures that it has the resources to hold the tournament in a reduced way. It should be remembered that the Minister of Sports, Guillermo Herrera, already announced, during the final of the first semester between América and Cali, that the entity will contribute 1,200 million pesos for the realization of the Women’s League in the second semester.
