Glickenhaus Racing has made it official that it will not take part in the 6h of Fuji, the penultimate round of the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship.
The race is scheduled for September, but for some time the presence of the 007 LMH # 708, which is registered for the whole season as per regulation, has been in doubt.
The confirmation was given by Jim Glickenhaus himself, explaining that Japan’s renunciation of the race was determined by economic reasons, while it is still being evaluated whether or not to go to Bahrain for the 8h that will close the championship in November.

“There is no mystery: we are raising funding for our company that will allow us to expand significantly using hydrogen cell vehicles,” Glickenhaus told Motorsport.com.
“Right now we need to understand exactly what we will do with the WEC and we are very optimistic that this will make our commitment to the series even more concrete starting next year.”
“But in the meantime, during this process, we are not going to spend the money to go to Japan because, frankly, we have run out of production capacity for our road cars, so there is no point in being there to advertise them.”
“Within the next eight weeks we will have more information on what exactly we will do. But this is the situation. And then, frankly, we have known that for some time, we were just waiting for the WEC to confirm the race publicly.”

It also remains to understand what the commitment will be in next year’s World Championship, where other important manufacturers such as Ferrari and Porsche will also arrive, as well as the rookie Peugeot in Monza this weekend.
Furthermore, the intention to register for the IMSA SportsCar Championship had been announced, even if the current rules of the American series would not allow Glickenhaus to be on the grid (which had already made him thunder a few weeks ago).
“Based on our funding, which comes from investors, we will decide what makes sense to do. At the moment, every car we sell and every 24h of the Nurburgring we do gives us enormous visibility, just like the Baja with off-road vehicles. But we can’t. spending money on the WEC without advertising return “.
