Although the premiere of Thor: Love and Thunder has overshadowed the popularity Ms Marvel has had on Disney +, there is a group of viewers who have not forgotten this production. This time we are not talking about the fans who love Kamala Khan, but the detractors who do not stop criticizing this show, and have started a review bombing campaign. Fortunately, the leading actress of Ms Marvel has a message for all these people.
In a conversation with NME, Iman Vellani, the actress in charge of Khan, mentioned that is open to conversation with constructive criticism. However, he has no time for those who only hate Ms Marvel because of the type of series what it is. This is what he commented on it:
“I know they are there. It’s something we knew was going to happen going into this. It happened when the comics came out in 2014. I’m all for constructive criticism as long as people have a legitimate concern or suggestion or something real. So I care.
But all the hate I’ve seen is baseless, meritless, it’s just hate, and that’s fine. You’re not going to impress everyone. We reached our target audience and reached a whole new audience who didn’t know they were going to fall in love with this character, people who had never seen themselves represented in a positive way before.”
Ms Marvel introduces us to Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani girl who becomes a superhero. The simple fact of having a young protagonist with a different identity than what we are typically used to, and aimed at a teenage audience, is more than enough not to be liked by many.
On related topics, a Marvel game from EA seems to have already been leaked. Similarly, producer talks about Thor’s future in the MCU.
Editor’s note:
Although I have yet to see the last two episodes, the series is fine. Ms Marvel has a number of interesting ideas worth pursuing. It’s not a perfect show, but it’s also not worth the negative attention it’s gotten in recent days.
