Jen Fitzpatricksenior vice president of Systems and Core Experiences, said going to locations that perform the procedure “can be particularly personal”. The measure takes effect “in the next weeks”.
Google will also delete data from users who visit counseling centers, fertility centers, addiction treatment clinics, weight loss clinics and plastic surgery clinics.
“Location and tracking history is off by default and can be deleted at any time”added Fitzpatrick.
Privacy advocate groups see the possibility of prosecutors starting to use warrants or subpoenas to require tech companies to hand over data, showing when users have visited sites that perform the procedure.
“We remain committed to protecting our users from inappropriate government demands for data and will continue to oppose overly broad or legally objectionable demands”declared Fitzpatrick.
