FC Barcelona for women announced this Saturday the signing of Lucy Bronze, a 30-year-old winger from Manchester City. Bronze, international with the English team On 81 occasions, she has signed a contract with the Barça club until 2024. The British woman has long been considered one of the best soccer players in the world. Not in vain, she won the UEFA Award for Best Player in Europe in 2019 and a year later she was awarded the award The Bestawarded to the best soccer player on the planet.
After confirming the signing, already in the club’s sports city, Bronze was happy: “I’m very happy to play for a club like FC Barcelona, one of the biggest teams in the world. I am looking forward to starting to work with the team. After a couple of conversations, you can’t say no to Barca,” she told the club’s media.
Barça had already reinforced the defense in this transfer market, as this Friday it announced the incorporation of Nuria Rábano, a 23-year-old left back who until now played for Real Sociedad.
With the arrival of Bronze, the Barça team reinforces its physical bet for the future, one of the great musts of the Catalans in the final of the Champions League on May 21 against Olympique de Lyon (1-3 for the French).
Bronze is the second signing of the Blaugrana entity after the departure of the Dutch attacker Lieke Martens, who at 29 years old, and after scoring 72 goals with the Barça jersey, has signed this week for Paris Saint Germain.
