111,100 people aged between 18 and 24 were hired in the month, points out Caged
The formal jobs created in April benefited, mainly, the younger ones: 54% of the openings in the month were filled by those between 18 and 24 years old. This is equivalent to 111,100 jobs for the age group.
In all, the country opened 197,000 jobs in April.
People aged 25 to 29 filled 12% of the vacancies (22,764 posts).
Those aged 65 and over were the most affected by unemployment. Lost 210 jobs.
The data are in the New Caged (New General Register of Employed and Unemployed), of the Ministry of Economy. The system collects, month by month, information on formal employment contracts.
