“triangle of sadness” is a satire directed by the Swedish Ruben Ostlund, and has been the winner of the palm d’or at the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. The filmmaker has previously won the same award for his film “The square” in 2017.
The winning film is divided into three episodes and focuses on the rich and famous, who travel aboard a chaotic luxury cruise ship in which everything goes wrong, so they end up bringing out the worst in themselves.

Rubén Östlund thinks about “Triangle of sadness”
“Triangle of sadness” stars Charlbi Dean (Yaya) and Harris Dickinson (Carlos). Featuring Woody Harrelson as a Marxist yachtsman and a scene of rampant vomiting, the film takes satire to a new level.
“We wanted that after the screening [para la gente] let’s go out together and have something to talk aboutÖstlund said.
He then added: “We all agree that the only thing about cinema is that we watch it together. So we have to save something to talk about, but we also have to have fun and be entertained.”

On the other hand, the Grand Jury Prize was divided between “Stars at Noon” by Claire Denis and “Close” by Lukas Dhont. The award for best direction was awarded to Korean Park Chan-Wook for his romantic thriller “Decision to leave” and the award for best screenplay went to the Egyptian film “boy from heavenby Tarik Saleh.
