Genoa – The road in front of the access to the Harbor Master’s Office will be named after the victims of the collapse of the Piloti Tower. This was announced by Admiral Sergio Liardo during the commemoration. Nine years have passed since May 7, 2013the day of the collapse of the Pilots Tower at Molo Giano in Genoa and today the city commemorated the tragic event with a double commemoration.
The holy mass in suffrage of the Fallen was celebrated at the Church of San Marco del Molo by Monsignor Anselmi, together with Don Fabio Pagnin, military chaplain, and deacon Massimo Franzo della Stella Maris. At the end of the function, the authorities and family members reached the Stele ad perpetuam rei memoriam for the laying of a crown in remembrance, in the area adjacent to the patrol boat quay of the Coast Guard in Porto Antico. The names of the women are engraved on the commemorative stele nine victims members of the military and civil on-board and ground personnel: Daniele Fratantonio, Giovanni Iacoviello, Davide Morella, Marco De Candussio, Giuseppe Tusa, Francesco Cetrola, Michele Robazza, Sergio Basso, Maurizio Potenza.
At 10.59 pm, the sound of the sirens of the ships present in the port of Genoa will remember, once again, the moment of the tragic collapse. At Molo Giano the victims’ families will meet for a moment of private meditation.
