Eight dead and 30 injured are the toll of an explosion that took place just before 11 am local time in the Saratoga hotel, in the heart of Havana. This was reported by the Cuban presidency office, according to which there are no victims in the nearby school. The explosion could have been caused by a gas leak. The hotel had been closed for two years due to the pandemic and was due to reopen on Tuesday 10 after renovations. Built in the 1930s, located in the old city, the five-storey building is located on the Capitol, formerly the seat of Parliament and later the seat of the Ministry of Science.
