On Friday, the fighting erupted in the coastal city of Al-Zawiya, while the National Oil Corporation said that the clashes destroyed at least 29 sites, including storage tanks, in the Al-Zawiya oil complex.
The foundation added that “the assessment is ongoing to determine the extent of the damage.”
The Zawiya oil complex is a major source of domestic fuel, raising fears of an energy crisis in the summer heat.
The National Human Rights Committee, a local human rights organization, condemned the clashes that took place in the city of Al-Zawiya, the cause of which is not yet clear.
The Libyan government expressed concern and called on armed groups to stop the fighting, which left an unknown number of deaths.
