Dictatorship audios
The audios, which total 10,000 hours, were obtained and analyzed by historian Carlos Fico, from UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro). A part of them was released this Sunday (17.Apr.2022) by journalist Míriam Leitão on her blog in the newspaper The globe.
Listen (36min31s):
In the records, it is possible to hear some ministers, such as Brigadier Faber Cintra, doubting the reports of torture. Others, such as General Rodrigo Octávio, request investigation of the cases.
There are reports of torture with hammers and electric shocks, including to pregnant women, and to their genitals.
Some of the ministers accept when the accusations are against the DOPS (Department of Political and Social Order), an organ of the Brazilian government at the time. Others, like General Augusto Fragoso, react when the lawsuits accuse the Armed Forces.
