Yesterday, the Russian authorities accused Ukraine of bombing a Russian town about 10 kilometers from the border with two helicopters, injuring seven people.
The Russian Federal Investigative Committee, which is in charge of major investigations, said that “members of the Ukrainian armed forces illegally entered Russian airspace with two combat helicopters equipped with heavy weapons, flying at a low altitude, and carried out at least six strikes on residential buildings in the town of Klimovo.” In the Bryansk region.
The committee added that “7 people were subjected to injuries of varying severity, including a young child born in 2020.”
This is the first time that Moscow has officially accused the Ukrainian armed forces of sending helicopters to Russia to launch an attack.
Ukraine, for its part, rejected Moscow’s assertions that it had bombed two Russian border towns. “The Russian special services have started implementing a plan to feed anti-Ukrainian hysteria in Russia,” the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council said.
The governor of the Belgorod region in southern Russia, Vyacheslav Gladkov, announced that two Ukrainian military helicopters had carried out a raid on a fuel depot in his region on April 1, but neither Ukraine nor Moscow directly confirmed this.
Yesterday, the governor of Bryansk, Alexander Bogomaz, announced the bombing, saying via Telegram: “The bombing caused damage to two residential buildings, and some residents were injured.”
A representative of the Russian Ministry of Health told RIA Novosti news agency that 7 people were wounded in the attack attributed to Ukrainian forces.
“As a result of the accident that occurred in the Bryansk region, seven people were injured, and all the victims are in hospital,” said Assistant Minister of Health Alexei Kuznetsov, adding that two are in a critical condition that required surgical intervention.
The governor of the Belgorod region also announced via the Telegram application that the village of Spodaryushino, near the border, “was subjected to shelling from the Ukrainian side.” He explained that no one was hurt, but the authorities “temporarily moved the residents” from this village and another adjacent to it “to ensure their security.”
