Javier Rodriguez was driving a Tesla Model 3 on a California highway when the car’s screen suddenly failed, he told KABC, a local television channel in the state.
He added that the accident occurred last Thursday, if the screen stopped when the car’s speed was within 133 kilometers per hour.
It was reported that the main screen was no longer working at that time, including the turn buttons and hazard lights.
He recalls: “I noticed that the weather in the car was starting to get hot, and it started to smell strange.”
He said that a state of anxiety took over him, because if the car’s movement was braked, he would not be able to return it to the required speed to keep up with the fast traffic around him.
The car’s power pedal didn’t respond, but fortunately the brake pedal was working, but that didn’t clear his heart.
Finally, he managed to get off the road, and after several minutes he restarted the car, and a police officer helped him off the highway and tow the car.
He stated that Tesla later informed him that it had repaired the car by default.
However, the American man is concerned that the car’s security features could cause the on-board computer to shut down without warning.
Tesla has not commented on this incident yet.
The company faced many problems with its electric cars, and had to repair wholesale breakdowns, which included the recall of hundreds of thousands of these cars.
