Normaalimäki’s top two Niko Kytösaho and Eetu Nousiainen will head to the combined race with insignificant ski kilometers.
Combined skier Ilkka Herola is a real contractor at the Ounasvaara Winter Games in Rovaniemi this weekend.
On Friday, Herola surprised Normal Hill with the Finnish Championship bronze. On Saturday, in addition to the combination of his bread, he will get a taste of the 4×10 kilometer message of cross-country skiing.
“In the morning there is a combined hill section, then a cross-country message in between and combined skiing ends the season. There may be a tired sweater in the last ten. The most important thing would be to tick off the first ten so as not to ruin the team’s job,” Herola planned.
Herola was alerted Iivo Niskasen to star at Puijo Hiihtoseura’s message team. Suppose you ski one of the free sections?
“I struggled hard to get a share of the‘ perts ’, but had to settle for a freeman,” Herola said to STT in the corner of his eye.
In the combined ski sections are folded free, but the traditional part of the Herola training program.
“I haven’t tried cross-country skiing with the traditional one. It’s a sport in itself. You can always go jogging, but the traditional one is hard when you really start working.”
In the cross-country skiing message, the third and fourth sections are skied freely.
“Apparently I’m going to go skiing the anchor section,” Herola said Friday night before heading back towards the hill tower and the combined reserve race.
Downhill jumping special men Niko Kytösaho led the Finnish Championships in Normal Hill after the opening round with a 97-meter slice and sealed the second round of the Finnish championship with 95.5-meter. Eetu Nousiainen was another.
The hill jump specialists will test their skiing condition on Saturday and take part in a combined competition. What can you expect from it?
“I look forward to getting to the finish line and home. A long way is coming,” Nousiainen said.
The ski kilometers of both have been limited.
“I have skied five kilometers in the last five years. Yesterday I went skiing. There is no mood,” Nousiainen painted the starting points for the combined Finnish Championships.
Kytösaho should also make a difference on the hill so that Herola and the other peaks of the combined do not pass the trail for the first few kilometers.
“In the last four years, I’ve been skiing 25 kilometers. At the time of the Olympics, when I was in the corona, I went skiing a couple of times,” Kytösaho said.
Herola kicked down as much as 98 meters in the first and finished second in the 96.5-meter medal. In the combined race, he is the biggest winner favorite.
“It was nice to jump, and on a normal hill you can have good performances in good places even among the mountaineers,” Herola said.
