Dubai Airports has announced the closure of the northern runway at Dubai International Airport (DXB) for a period of 45 days, from May 9 to June 22, 2022, with the aim of implementing a comprehensive development process to continue providing the highest standards of safety and enhancing the smooth and efficient management of operations.
Although weekly maintenance work continues at the North Runway, extensive improvements have been planned in advance and require the complete closure of the Runway, with the Runway undergoing a similar development process during 2014, while the South Runway renovations took place in 2019.
Dubai Airports continues its efforts to invest in the development and enhancement of infrastructure according to the highest international standards, which contributes to providing high quality services and enhances its leading position as the busiest international airport in the world.
And thanks to its possession of a two-way runway, DXB will be able to receive passengers during the closure period, with a number of flights directed to the second airport in Dubai “Dubai World Central Airport – DWC”, in line with the proactive measures taken to reduce the effects that may occur on flights during this period.
In this context, Dubai Airports has proactively notified all airlines in order to plan to reduce the number of flights and set the schedule accordingly.
