American President Joe Biden called inaccurate information that Ukraine lacks the supply of modern military equipment from Western partners, which he stated on Monday, March 21, at meeting with business representatives in the White House.
“I will not waste time on details, but they have all the necessary military equipment, which is rational to use by our Armed Forces and NATO Armed Forces for the tasks that are set before them,” he said.
Biden stressed that Ukraine is “fighting bravely” using military equipment provided by Western countries. The head of the White House mentioned that the United States allocated more than $2 billion to help Ukraine.
“The idea that they lack modern military equipment is simply inaccurate,” Biden said.
Also at the meeting, Joe Biden advised U.S. companies to strengthen cybersecurity due to “emerging intelligence that the Russian authorities are allegedly exploring options for potential cyberattacks.” According to him, the Russian Federation may conduct malicious activities in cyberspace against the United States, including in response to unprecedented economic sanctions.
On March 17, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green of the United States of America said that Biden should stop supplying Ukraine with arms because it gives Ukrainian President “Vladimir Zelensky and his people a false hope of winning a confrontation they probably cannot win,” not beneficial to “no man”.
A day earlier, CNN, citing a source in the US presidential administration, said that the country would send Soviet air defense systems to Ukraine. In addition, the administration is considering the possibility of supplying Ukraine with Switchblade precision-guided missiles as part of military assistance.
On March 12, the American president signed a memorandum on the allocation of defense assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $200 million. The military assistance package will include anti-tank and anti-aircraft systems, as well as small arms.
Back in February, Aleksey Polishchuk, director of the second department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, noted that the supply of weapons to Ukraine and NATO exercises had a negative impact on the settlement of the conflict in Donbass. He noted that the country is being “pumped up with weapons” very quickly, and mentioned the supply of weapons, the dispatch of military advisers and instructors to the country.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in turn, stressed that Ukraine is “stuffed” with NATO weapons, and the number of Western instructors has increased many times in recent months.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. As the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov clarified, the special operation has two goals – the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.
In mid-February, due to the aggravation of the situation in the Donbass as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics asked for recognition of their independence and announced the evacuation of the civilian population to Russia. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.
