Space, the Russian Soyuz spacecraft has arrived at the International Space Station
Russia launched the Soyuz MS-21 spacecraft bound for the International Space Station (ISS) with prime crew on board composed exclusively of Russian cosmonauts since 2008. The spacecraft, named after the Russian space agency Roscosmos in honor of Sergei Korolyov, considered the father of Soviet cosmonautics and the architect of the most important achievements in the history of the exploration of the cosmos, was launched at 4:55 pm Italian time from the Russian Cosmodrome of Baikonur, in the Kazakh steppe.
The crew consists of cosmonauts Oleg Artemiev, Denis Matveev and Sergei Korsakov, who will remain on the space platform for 195 days. The last exclusively Russian crew to fly on the International Space Station was number 17, composed of Sergei Volkov and Oleg Kononenko, in 2008. During the mission, the crew will have to carry out seven spacewalks, as well as technical maintenance and repairs to the platform.
The three Russian cosmonauts Oleg Artemyev, Denis Matveev and Sergey Korsakov have moved from the Soyuz MS-21 spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS). This was reported by the Russian agency ‘Tass’. On the station are Roscosmos cosmonauts Anton Shkaplerov and Pyotr Dubrov, NASA astronauts Mark Vande High, Raja Chari, Tom Marshburn and Kayla Barron, as well as European Space Agency astronaut Matthias Maurer. Crew members who arrived on the ISS will spend 195 days on the ISS and will return to Earth on September 30th.
