The issuance of green cards by the US government to Brazilians dropped 15.5% between October 1, 2020 and September 30, 2021 (fiscal year), the first drop in six years. The country is the eighth in the ranking of the ones that most receive the permanent residence document in the USA.
In a decade, the increase is 10.5% according to unprecedented data collected by the law firm AG Immigration with the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Last year, 16,746 green cards were granted to citizens of Brazil against 19,825 the previous year. For AG Immigration co-founder Felipe Alexandre, green card issues will rise again because Joe Biden is more friendly towards immigrants.
