Tom Clancy’s XDefiant – Ubisoft’s upcoming free-to-play shooter – ha changed name: from now on it is simply called XDefiant. In other words, it has lost “Tom Clancy’s” from the name, but it’s not just a stylistic choice.
It is in fact explained that the reason behind the name change is the will to include in XDefiant “factions from games outside the Tom Clancy universe”. Initially, we recall, game-based factions of Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon and The Division were announced. XDefiant, however, wants to propose something more. Thing? For the moment we don’t know.
Also, as you can see below, the logo. The original one was puck-rock, inspired by graffiti. The current one is instead modern and elegant. It is clear that Ubisoft is changing the style of XDefiant, or at least its image.
Ubisoft also announced a “Insider Session“which will allow players to try XDefiant. It will initially be available to a small group of PC players, but may be expanded later. Ubisoft says they learned a lot from the game’s previous testing period, which took place last year. previously registered for XDefiant tests will not need to re-register and will automatically be in the pool of potential players for the next Insider Sessions. The test sessions will be under NDA.
