Al Maryah Island has revealed a series of new achievements and partnerships it has made in the areas of trade, hospitality and office space over the past year. The significant growth achieved by the island is the cornerstone of the upcoming projects in 2022 and the next ten years. As a leading center for business and financial projects, the island contributes to providing exceptional offers that ensure all companies achieve their goals and aspirations.
Al Maryah Island continued to flourish in 2021 after launching its successful projects in the post-Covid-19 period, as its four commercial towers in Abu Dhabi Global Market Square achieved high occupancy rates, by leasing spaces to a number of well-known and emerging companies. This momentum continued into 2022 with additional space being leased and other spaces being offered for rent. The business-friendly environment provided by the island has also contributed to attracting investments by local and international companies. Two plots of land on the island were recently sold to Sama Emirates Holding Group.
The year 2021 was distinguished in terms of performance and achievements. For the third year in a row, the Four Seasons Hotel received a five-star rating, and The Galleria Al Maryah Island was awarded the prestigious International Destination Award in the category of Best Arab Project for Business Development. Butcher and Steele at the Four Seasons Hotel and Coya at The Galleria were also ranked among the 50 Best Restaurants in the Middle East and North Africa for 2022.
The island has also witnessed many remarkable achievements, such as receiving more than 145,000 visitors at its “Active” sports facility, which hosted one of the teams participating in the FIFA Club World Cup hosted by Abu Dhabi.
The recent opening of the Apple Store has cemented The Galleria on Al Maryah Island as a leading shopping destination. The island’s attraction of 31 million visitors in 2021 and more than 3.4 million visitors and guests in the month of December alone reflects its remarkable development, which highlights its effective role in diversifying Abu Dhabi’s economy and attracting international brands.
The keenness of luxury brands to expand their presence on Al Maryah Island through the opening of Dior, Chanel, Fendi and Saint Laurent stores, and the upcoming plans to launch Elie Saab and Jimmy Choo stores, among others, confirms the strong commercial position that is unique to the island. The Galleria has continued to be the destination of choice for new brands, with over 85 stores opening last year.
Khalifa Al Rumaithi, Executive Director of the UAE Real Estate Unit in the UAE Investment Sector at Mubadala Investment Company, said: “Our remarkable successes in the areas of retail, hospitality, office space and others in 2021 have cemented our position as a leading business destination.
