Baby in hospital for gluteal necrosis cannot be operated on
A 9-year-old girl, who arrived at the hospital with a necrosis of the gluteus that required emergency surgery, was transferred to another hospital because there were no doctors to operate on her.
The little girl was taken by her parents to the Perrino hospital in Brindisi: here, however, the little girl was unable to undergo the emergency surgery she needed due to a lack of staff.
The doctors, therefore, advised the parents to transfer her to Bari, but the mother and father at that point decided to take her to Rome, where she is currently hospitalized at the Bambino Gesù hospital.
Asked by The Republicthe little girl’s father declares: “Healthcare cannot go on vacation. It seemed like a nightmare to us. It was terrible to find out from one moment to the next of the urgency of the intervention and then, while we were taking courage, to fall back into despondency in front of the scenario of the absence of medical personnel”. The managers of the ASL of Brindisi have asked the doctors for a report to understand what happened.
