Every year new promises appear in the great clubs of the world but with the passage of the game and the seasons their careers do not just take off or are definitely going downhill.
However, if their careers had been the other way around, they would have had an upward trend. Let’s look at some cases.
The pearl of Barcelona would have been the pearl of Vissel Kobe. After being left without a team, he would have landed in the MLS at the hands of Montreal. Then he would make the leap to Europe thanks to Stoke City and would be loaned to Alavés and Mainz. After going through historical events in Europe, such as Ajax, Milan and Rome, he would arrive at Barcelona where he won all the titles.
Royston Drenthe would be straightening his career little by little. First he would debut as a professional in Murcia of the Spanish Third Division. Later he would go to his country to play for the Kozakken Boys and Sparta Rotterdam. Then he would try his luck in the Turkish Super League, in the Premier League and in Russia and then return to Spain with Hercules. In the end he would end up signing for Real Madrid winning the only two titles of his career and after a great European Under-21 in which he was chosen best player, he would end his career at Feyenoord Rotterdam.
Diego Capel would have started his career as a footballer very far from his native Almería, specifically at Birkirkara in Malta. Later he would come to Spain to play in Second Division B in the ranks of Extremadura. He would then play for Anderlecht, Genoa, Sporting de Portugal to find success in the ranks of Sevilla. With Seville, two Copas del Rey and two UEFA Cups, among other titles, and would be called up with the senior team.
Marc Bartra would have made his debut with Betis and his great seasons as a Verdiblanco made Dortmund notice him and sign him. He spent two seasons in the Bundesliga and quickly caught the attention of Barcelona, who saw him as Puyol’s successor in the center of defense. In his seven seasons in the first team, he would win all the titles, some twice.
Cristian Tello would also have started his career at Betis with Bartra but the winger would have signed for Barcelona. However, the Barça club would have yielded to Fiorentina and Porto before giving him a chance with the first team where he would win four titles.
It was difficult for Giovani Dos Santos to start in the world of football but he finally succeeded thanks to America. Two seasons later, he would go to MLS with the LA Galaxy. Then he would make the leap to Europe where he would go through several teams including Villarreal or Mallorca in Spain or Tottenham in England. Finally, he would end up at Barcelona, whom he helped win a Spanish Super Cup.
The Swiss footballer would have started his career at Olympique de Lyon. Then Liverpool would sign him where he spent three seasons in which he won four titles. He would then play at Stoke City and from there to Inter Milan. After half a season in Serie A he would go to Bayern reaching the peak of his career. With the German team he would once again be crowned champion of the Champions, conquering the treble. And he would finish his career in Basel in his native Switzerland.
Jesé’s career would have started in Las Palmas. From there he would make the leap to the almighty PSG but by not making a place among so many stars, he would be transferred to several teams, including UD Las Palmas, and finally he would end up at Real Madrid where he would reach his best level and reap his most important achievements: six titles including two Champions.
Gareth Bale’s porfeisonal career would have started at Real Madrid. But tired of so much injury they would have yielded to Tottenha, to return again to the white team. There he would live a few great years conquering four European Cups, among other titles. Then he would return to Tottenham where many would consider him the future Ballon d’Or. Six seasons later he would go to Southampton.
