The 232 representatives of the political body second the decision of the regionalist leadership by majority and if they do not obey, the process of expulsion of García Adanero and Sayas will begin.
The Political Council of the Union of the Navarrese People (UPN) has today voted by a majority in favor of national deputies Carlos García Adanero and Sergio Sayas handing over their minutes after failing to comply with party discipline and voting against the labor reform. In the event that they do not do so, as both parliamentarians have advanced, the process of expulsion from the formation will be initiated.
The 232 representatives of the Political Council, the body in which UPN representatives participate in the different public institutions, as well as members of the 59 local assemblies, met urgently this Saturday once the Executive Committee decided to ask them for the due minutes to their disloyalty and their deceit, “as it shows that they have previously publicly stated that they were going to accept the voting discipline and then not do it,” they pointed out on Friday from the regionalist leadership.
Thus, 80% of these 232 representatives of the Political Council have supported the decision of its steering committee, 15% have voted against, 3.75 blank and 0.62% of the votes have been invalid.
The agreement adopted this Friday afternoon by the Executive Committee included the following content, which was approved today: “The seriousness of the attitude of the two UPN deputies in the Congress of Deputies, not only because of their lack of discipline , but also due to the concealment of their final vote from voters, members, positions, executive and leadership of the party, all this, in addition, with premeditation, has caused damage of incalculable consequences and repercussion, both in the party itself and in its leaders. , something that has put our credibility and reliability in check.
He added that «the value of the word given has always accompanied UPN since its inception and is our hallmark. All this forces us to be forceful in defense of the interest and respect of our party and our voters. The serious indiscipline and the serious damage to the image and respectability of UPN forces us to ask them to hand over their minutes as deputies and, if not, initiate the necessary procedures for their expulsion.
Carlos García Adanero appeared this Saturday at the UPN Political Council in Pamplona, as an elected member, but he left before it was over, convinced that he was going to ratify the decision that the executive adopted this Friday. He stated at his departure that he will now wait for the decision of the disciplinary committee on his expulsion. The deputy has affirmed that “it is evident that the management is wanting us to leave and expel us”, but he has assured that “we continue to trust the organs, we believe that we can defend our position”.
