Blitz in Milan in support of the Last generation campaign to denounce the climate alarm. A group of people threw flour on the BMW m1 painted by Andy Warhol in 1972 on display at the Steam Factory. The activists entered around 11, holding each of the bags in their pockets and throwing about 8 kilos of flour on the car. After the escalation of the action, they sat down on the ground and explained to the viewers of the exhibition the reasons for their gesture. “The works of art -said Martina, one of the activists- have been targeted to highlight the hypocrisy of our society’s values: we are truly indignant at the simulation of damage to works of art while the objective destruction in progress of the works of nature, ecosystems and our own life leaves us indifferent? It is necessary to reconsider our ethical and emotional values and our priorities”. The girls were then taken to the police station by the forces of order who arrived on the spot.
”The exhibition is temporarily suspended – Salvatore Lacagnina, executive producer of the Navigare company, told Adnkronos – we are trying to quantify the damage exactly and how to get it back exactly as it was before. Impossible to predict this action. They arrived with bags in their pockets, we can’t inspect every person. They pulverized these bags of flour all over the car. Now the police are identifying them, but it is clear that there will be problems for the thousand visitors expected today. It was the first time it was exhibited in Milan. We are in contact with Germany. It’s a car worth over 10 million euros and it wasn’t glassed-in, there were protections, but no, such a blitz could not have been foreseen”.
