The Dubai Police General Command announced the arrest of 796 beggars and 1,287 street vendors during the first half of this year, as part of its ongoing campaign “beggary is a wrong concept for compassion”, which aims to raise awareness of the dangers of the phenomenon of beggary, maintain community security and stability, and control beggars in public places, who are trying to exploit Sympathy for people to get money illegally.
Dubai Police called on members of the public to report beggars who are begging community members through their deceptive appearances and claiming material need, indicating that it is possible to submit reports through the “Police Eye” service, which is one of the services provided by Dubai Police on its smart application, and aims to involve community members in Maintaining security, reducing crime and reporting illegal abuses.
Dubai Police pointed out that the “Police Eye” service is an interactive service that enables community members to communicate with the Dubai Police to report any abuses that would put the perpetrators under the law.
Dubai Police confirmed that the General Department of Criminal Investigation and Investigation annually develops an integrated security plan to combat beggary, by intensifying patrols in public places where beggars are expected to be present, in order to address the phenomenon.
