The electronic helper will soon become a reality. It could particularly support introverted people.
AI projects could really transform German authorities. This year's technology trade fair CES shows that a lot could change in your own home: household appliances like your stove will be able to talk to you in complete sentences. LG and Samsung also came up with the idea of providing you with a small robot in your household.
Be careful, robots shouldn't just exist for your pleasure
There's a reason why providers want you to talk to household appliances or a robot: they use it to collect millions of data to optimize AI assistants. Currently spreading AI systems like ChatGPT still produce a lot of misinformation.
From interactions with various technology in the home, conclusions can be drawn about behavioral patterns and people's moods, for example their tone of voice and facial expression, says LG CEO William Cho. He added that this would “of course” only happen with the express consent of the users. Personal data should be processed on devices directly in households and should be particularly protected.
The spherical household robot from Samsung is called “Ballie”
LG's “AI Agent” is equipped with cameras and other sensors and can explore the house. Samsung, on the other hand, showed a new version of its spherical mini robot “Ballie” at the VES trade fair. Thanks to its cameras, it can help create a 3D plan of the home, which is intended to make it easier to operate a connected home. The device now also has a projector that can display images and information on the wall or ceiling.
If you hate doing housework, a robot like this could soon help you out. BuzzFeed News Germany collects tasks that he can take on according to the providers and current research. They prove that A lot of things are already possible with AI today.
How a robot could soon help you around the house:
1. Make your morning coffee
2. Do you feel lonely? The robot walks around your apartment and talks to you.
3. For all introverts: He greets neighbors in the hallway.
4. Plays with your pets. “Ballie” does this with images that he projects onto the floor.
5. If you are sick, the robot will bring you medicine.
6. If things are particularly bad, he calls 911.
7. A household robot cleans up for you and tells its friend, the cleaning robot, what to do.
