The winter camp for football referees and the FIFA course for the VAR technology, organized by the Football Association in cooperation with the International Federation, started from January 23 to 26, with the participation of 63 football referees, including 3 referees from Bahrain and Iran.
Salem Ali Al Shamsi, member of the Board of Directors of the Football Association and Chairman of the Referees Committee, inaugurated the activities of the video technology course, where he welcomed everyone, and conveyed the greetings of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Football Association to the participants, as well as to the elite International Federation lecturers who supervise the course’s axes, namely: Massimo Busacca, Director of FIFA’s Referees Department, Oscar Ruiz, Jorge Larionda, and Mike van der Rost, FIFA Video Technology Officer.
The inauguration was witnessed by Muhammad Ali Omar, Vice-Chairman of the Referees Committee, Lee Robert, Director of Referees Department, Richard Millen, Technical Director of Referees, Ahmed Yaqoub, Technical Officer for Lecturers and Evaluators, and Abdul Wahed Khater from Referees Department.
The morning period of the winter camp program for referees includes practical training at Diab Awana Stadium at the headquarters of the Dubai Football Association, on video technology equipment through mini-games with the help of amateur players, while in the evening, theoretical lectures are held in the meeting room at the Mer Cure Hotel in Dubai.
Salem Ali Al Shamsi said: We are pleased and proud of the football referees’ performance, during their management of professional club competitions, as we have seen a development that confirms that we are on the right path, through the process of developing the UAE arbitration system, and we have attracted elite lecturers from the Asian and International Football Associations to implement the development plans, as well as About our local elements who have extensive experience in the field of arbitration.
He added: We place our full confidence in the Emirati football referee, who provides an outstanding performance, and strives together and always for the best, and we are fortunate to have the great support of the Board of Directors of the Football Association headed by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, for all activities, workshops and development courses for the Referees Committee, which will bring positive results during the period coming.
Al Shamsi praised the great cooperation and coordination between the UAE and international federations, in all matters that contribute to enhancing the experiences of football referees in the Emirates, indicating that he hopes that the referees will achieve more successes in the coming period, which will pave the way for young football referees to reach levels that qualify them. to carry the international emblem.
