The consultation published this Wednesday also represents a 5% increase in support for the sovereign cause from the regional elections in May.
The majority of the Scottish electorate is in favor of independence, according to a vote intention poll that also shows that the two partners in the Edinburgh Government are winning positions: the Scottish National Party (SNP) and the minority Green formation. The survey by Ipsos Moris and regional television TVS News indicates that of those decided to vote in a sovereign referendum, 55% would check the yes box and 45% the no box. This result exactly reverses the verdict, contrary to independence, of 2014.
The consultation published this Wednesday also represents a 5% increase in support for the sovereign cause from the regional elections in May. It is also the highest level in more than a year, when the outstanding management of the main minister, Nicola Sturgeon, of the pandemic translated into a constant trend in favor of the constitutional break with the rest of the United Kingdom
Sturgeon remains at the peak of popularity, with 58% satisfied with his work compared to 38% dissatisfied. By contrast, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson falls into the ravine of unpopularity. Four out of five Scots (80%) are disappointed with the Conservative leader and only 16% approve of his performance at the command of the Central Executive. 51% are also not satisfied with the Tory leader in the territory, Douglas Ross.
Johnson, low lows
Johnson’s unpopularity in Scotland fuels independence. ‘I defy anyone who looks at Westminster’s broken, corrupt and self-indulgent system and concludes that it provides a secure foundation for Scotland’s future,’ proposed Sturgeon at the SNP congress in response to the prime minister’s attempt to defend an accused Conservative MP corruption that unleashed a torrent of conflict of interest among conservatives. Sturgeon promised to process the requirements to call a referendum in 2023 next year as long as the risk of the pandemic has dissipated.
