The Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the organizers of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon, and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the official sponsor of the global event, revealed the design of the medals and the list of athletes participating in the prestigious event 4 weeks before its launch.
This year’s medals are adorned with the most prominent and famous engineering landmarks in Abu Dhabi, which will present excellence and creativity in his global and societal journey. The 2.5 km and 5 km race medals include ceremonial phrases for participating in and winning the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon.
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council also revealed the participation of a distinguished group of world record athletes in the main race of the Induque Abu Dhabi Marathon for a distance of 42.2 km. And she previously ranked second in the 2017 Rotterdam Marathon and third in the 2021 Milan Marathon. Also participating in the race is the Ethiopian runner Bethlehem Muges, who has a personal record of two hours 23 minutes and 38 seconds, and her list of athletic achievements includes first place in the 2015 Beijing Marathon Third place in the 2016 Valencia Marathon, and fourth place in the 2021 Milan Marathon.
In the men’s category, Kenyan runner Barnabas Kiptum, ranked 16th in the world with a personal time of 2 hours 4 minutes 17 seconds, who in recent years has succeeded in securing first place in both the Buenos Aires Marathon 2017 and the Hong Kong Marathon 2019, will participate, in addition to the position Third in the 2021 Milan Marathon. His compatriot Philemon Reno, who is ranked 10th in the world rankings with a personal best time of 2 hours and 5 minutes, is also participating in the marathon, and he won first place in the 2019 Toronto Marathon.
The number of registered participants so far has reached more than 5,000 thousand participants in all marathon races, and all groups of society can participate and register in the races of the event, which provides distances suitable for all levels.
For his part, Arif Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: “The large number of registered participants in the marathon races next month reflects the interest of the Abu Dhabi community, and its keenness to adopt a vibrant sports lifestyle filled with positive energy, and supports the health and well-being of the community. Those interested in running in Abu Dhabi.”
He added: “The design of this year’s medals is in a very special style in appreciation of the efforts of all participants in the challenge and to celebrate their success in completing the race distance that suits their fitness levels. ADNOC Abu Dhabi is the highly anticipated global event that will be held on November 26, indicating that the confirmation of the elite international names for their participation in the event confirms its prestigious position and global value among major events at the international level.
On the other hand, the approved race village at ADNOC’s headquarters will welcome the participants and the public for 3 days before the marathon, from 22 to 25 November. It will also provide all family members with the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun and family activities, in A framework for promoting a healthy lifestyle and physical well-being for the members of the Abu Dhabi community.
