The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai revealed that the number of passengers who traveled through the transportation sector in luxury vehicles (limousines) reached 37 million 858 thousand and 890 passengers in the first half of this year, compared to 25 million 223 thousand and 984 passengers in the same period last year. An increase of 12,634,906 passengers, an increase of 50%, indicating that the limousine transportation sector includes traditional limousines and electronic reservation vehicles. The authority indicated in a press statement yesterday that flights in this sector amounted to 21 million, 757 thousand and 983 flights in the first half of this year, compared to 14 million, 496 thousand and 543 flights in the same period last year, an increase of seven million and 261 thousand and 440 flights, i.e. An increase of 50%.
Director of the Planning and Business Development Department at the Public Transport Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority, Adel Shakri, said: “This vital and important sector has witnessed steady growth over the past six years, and therefore, to meet the increasing demand for this type of transport, we have increased the number of companies from 123 in the first half of last year to 244 in the first half of this year, and this increase in the number of companies has certainly led to an increase in the number of vehicles from 9,544 vehicles in the first half of last year to 14,480 vehicles in the second half of this year.”
He explained that comparing the numbers and percentages recorded in the sector for the first half of the current year indicates significant results that indicate the authority’s keenness to develop this important sector of transportation in the emirate, and to provide innovative services that contribute to improving the customer experience and enhancing their satisfaction, which leads to enhancing economic growth.
