the premiere of Cyberpunk 2077 at the end of 2020 it has remained one of the biggest brands in the history of the medium. The disaster that were its versions for last generation base consoles caused a massive scandal that continues to echo to this day. Even before that event, CD Projekt RED promised that there would be native versions that would take advantage of the hardware of the new consoles, but never said when. Thus, the months passed and basically a year and a half later, this promise is finally being fulfilled. From the outset, we can tell you that the long wait has been completely worth it, so we have decided to introduce you five specific points where this new version of the action RPG brutally surpasses what we had on consoles.
Gigantic leap graphic
The first thing you’re going to notice as soon as this new version of Cyberpunk 2077 starts running on your Xbox Series X | S or PS5, will be the graphic section. If there was one thing that bothered us about past-gen versions of the game, it was how flat its visual presentation could be. Now, we have an abysmal improvement that comes dangerously close to what the title looks like on the highest specs on a PC. The use of ray tracing makes all the difference, combined with high-quality textures and highly detailed models, making Night City feel more immersive than ever. Really, we are still shocked by the enormous change that can be seen in this specific section. Similarly, the audio received substantial improvements, making it much more immersive.
technical stability
One of the biggest problems that the last generation version of Cyberpunk 2077 presented, especially during its first weeks, had to do with how highly unstable it was in the technical part. From minor bugs and glitches, to serious errors that did not let you progress in a quest or, of course, made the game crash completely, closing the application and many times, causing your progress to be lost forever. It was a constant praying so that the title would not burst at any moment. Fortunately, we can tell you that this new version feels brutally solid. Of course you can still run into some minor roughness, but nothing compared to what we had to experience in December 2020.
Increased resolution and performance
Despite the fact that putting the last generation version on the new consoles made the game run and display much better, even reaching framerates of up to 60 frames per second, the reality is that things like the resolution or the lack of ray tracing, made the experience feel a bit flat. With this new native version, you can choose between two display modes if you are playing on a PS5 or Xbox Series X. The ray tracing mode allows you to play with this lighting technology together with a resolution of 4K at 30 frames per second, while than performance, eliminates ray tracing and lowers the resolution a bit, this in order to achieve a very stable 60 frames. On the Xbox Series S side, we have good results, although the lack of options such as Ray Tracing and not being able to play at 60 frames reduce its value somewhat.
Harnessing the DualSense
Without a doubt, one of the parts that makes a new generation game feel different is the way it takes advantage of the hardware on which it runs. The DualSense of the Playstation 5 became one of the great surprises of the premiere of the new consoles, because in fact, its haptic vibration and adaptable triggers provide more than we could imagine. Well, CD Projekt RED used this technology, and the integration that Cyberpunk 2077 has with the PS5 controller is simply sensational. Feeling how tight R2 and L2 are when driving or shooting is only matched by the subtle or intense vibration the controller presents depending on what situation you’re in.
AI and world behavior improvements
The world of Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most immersive and atmospheric that you can find in any video game, however, the behavior of some of its NPCs could be quite erratic, not to mention that the PS4 and Xbox One versions looked mostly desert streets. Well, with these new native versions of the new consoles, the above has changed radically. In addition to the fact that now, there are finally people walking and driving on the streets of Night City, their affluence changes depending on the time of day. In addition, their behavior to our actions is much more natural when, for example, you shoot near them or hit them with your car. We definitely have a more alive world that behaves much more naturally.
