The boccia team won 5 colored medals, including two gold, a silver, and two bronze, in the competitions of the fourth edition of the West Asian Paralympic Games, which is hosted by the Al-Thiqa Club for the Disabled, with the participation of 11 countries, and will continue until next February 3.
President Al Falasi presented the UAE with its first gold medal in the women’s boccia competitions in the PC4 category. She also added to the UAE the second gold medal with Hamdan Al Kaabi in the doubles competitions in the BC4 category. Our player Khaled Al Marashdeh also won the silver medal in the men’s competitions in the BC4 category. “PC 2”, Omar Al Falasi won the bronze medal in the “PC 3” category, and Hamdan Al Kaabi won the bronze medal in the “PC 4” category.
The Saudi team won 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and a bronze medal, Bahrain won 2 gold medals, and 2 bronze medals, while Iraq won 2 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and a bronze medal.
On the other hand, our national team continued its victories in wheelchair basketball competitions, after defeating its Omani counterpart, 49-35, in the third round, and the Saudi team achieved the full mark, after defeating the Bahraini team, 73-48. Saudi Arabia will meet its Omani counterpart, and Iraq will meet its Bahraini counterpart.
The goalball competitions, in their first round held at the Emirates Association for the Visually Impaired, witnessed great competition between 6 participating teams, and Saudi Arabia achieved victory over our team with a score of 11-1, before drawing in an exciting match with the Qatar team 8-8, to score 4 points. The Jordanian national team achieved a victory over our national team with a score of 17-7, and over Oman with a score of 18-8, raising its score to 6 points, while Iraq achieved the full score of 6 points, after defeating Oman with a score of 11-1, and over Qatar 7-6.
Saudi Arabia will meet Oman and Iraq, while our team will meet Qatar and Oman, while Jordan will play with Iraq and Qatar.
The results of the second day of badminton resulted in the victory of the Iraqi Muhammad Jawad 2-0 over the Bahraini Ruba Al Ameri, the Iraqi Muhammad Karim also won over our player Muhammad Ahmed Al Zarouni 2-0, the Saudi Muhammad Ahmed won over the Lebanese Iyad Meshlab 2-0, and the Syrian Firas Yahya also won. He defeated his compatriot Matar Atef 2-0, and the Lebanese Reda Rizk achieved victory over the Jordanian Alaa Al-Qawasmeh 2-0.

Dr. Abdul Razzaq Bani Rashid, President of the West Asia Paralympic Federation, expressed his happiness with the players participating in the strong start of the West Asian Paralympic Games in various competitions, and said: “The aim of the tournament is to develop the capabilities of the players and participants to reach the Olympics, in addition to the benefits that the players will reap through interaction and exchange of Of experience”.
