The DGT campaign has also detected more than 4,300 drivers who did not exceed the maximum allowed rate but did drive after consuming alcohol
General direction of traffic (DGT) launched a special campaign for the surveillance and control of alcohol and / or drugs from June 16 to 22 in which the agents of the Civil Guard Traffic Group have controlled a total of 173,118 drivers to carry out the control test and of those who 3,155 tested positive for alcohol and / or drugs, that is, 450 drivers every day. For this reason, the c
Preventive controls continue to prove their effectiveness since 84% of positives for alcohol and 88% of those for drugs have been detected in them, compared to the rest that are detected after an accident, an offense or due to symptoms.
In the case of alcohol, of the 1,603 drivers who tested positive, against 235 proceedings have been opened and they have been brought to justice either because they were driving with a rate higher than 0.60mg / l in air or because they refused to carry out the tests of breathalyzer. Regarding drugs, of the 1,552 drivers who tested positive for some substance, the majority (1,141) did so for cannabis, followed by those who did so for cocaine (514), amphetamines (180) and opioids (65). What’s more,
20 drivers were brought to justice for driving under the influence of psychotropic substances or refusing to take a drug test.
But these campaigns
not only serve to detect those who break the law, but also to alert all those drivers who, even though they are not reported for not exceeding the maximum rates allowed, are detected because they are between 0.15 mg / l and the permitted limit. On this occasion, in the controls carried out on the occasion of this campaign, more than 4,300 drivers were in this situation. Of these, 3,612 were detected in preventive controls, 369 for a violation, 37 after an accident and 3 for presenting symptoms.
