In the state of Baja California, in Mexico, they sentenced to 45 years in prison Alina Daffodil27, a former Tijuana police officer accused of murdering her husband, Luis Rodrigo, who was a supervisor at the same institution, in self-defense.

The events date back to December 12, 2019when, presumably, the man tried to suffocate the former police officer.

The family of the former officer regretted the decision, which they described as an act of machismo and pointed out that Alina was constantly the victim of physical and verbal aggression in her marriage.
For her part, the governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar, assured that will legally accompany the relatives of the former police officerand that the case should be analyzed from a gender perspective.
According to Alina’s defense, the man had his weapon at hand, which he used to hit her and try to kill her. She managed to take it off and shot him, killing him.

The local press has reported that the medical certificates showed that when the former police officer was detained she had bumps and bruises on the arms, neck, chest and traces of blood on the lips.
That, according to the defense, shows that Alina was a victim of domestic violence and that, according to her testimony, her partner would have tried to kill her with his charge weapon.

Socorro, Alina’s mother, told the local media Border: “My daughter had the courage to defend herself, the same corporation gave her that weapon, the same corporation trained her to defend herself and now they turn their backs on her. I don’t understand.”
In March, a letter that Alina wrote from prison became known. At that time, still under trial, she attended the hearings, to which she was called by the Public Ministry not to appear but to give her testimony as a member of the Tijuana Municipal Police.

My daughter had the courage to defend herself

On one of the pages she wrote for the mayor of Tijuana, Monserrat Caballero, Alina wrote:
“The machismo that from the beginning prevailed in the past administration made a mockery of me, taking advantage of the fact that I did not declare (…) today it is known that I am not the officer who unreasonably killed another officer, I am the woman who defended her life and who changed the story of what happens daily with so many women murdered at the hands of their partners”.

Now, after learning of the conviction, dozens of users on social networks, especially women and feminist organizations, ask for justice in their case.
