The winners of the contest were Adrian López (CEIP ‘El Salvador’), Jennifer Espinoza del (CEIP ‘Cervantes’) and Inés García (CEIP ‘El Salvador’).
With the delivery of prizes for the school competition, the Caravaca de la Cruz Road Safety Conference has been closed, which this year has had the participation of more than 400 schoolchildren from the urban area and districts. This activity, promoted by the Department of Public Safety and Traffic of the City Council, aims to promote civic, responsible and safe attitudes through knowledge of traffic regulations.
The first prize of the contest went to Adrian López Martínez from CEIP ‘El Salvador’, the second to Jennifer Espinoza Rivero from CEIP ‘Cervantes’ and the third to Inés García García from CEIP ‘El Salvador’. The winner of the first prize has received a bicycle and the second and third, sets of school supplies.
“Within the framework of this activity, this year we wanted to include a contest so that schoolchildren could reflect through drawing and painting aspects learned in the Road Education Conference”, said the councilor, José Santiago Villa, who congratulated the three award-winning schoolchildren and has thanked both the response of the educational centers and the work carried out by the Local Police, whose agents are in charge of giving the theoretical and practical sessions in the Municipal Park of Traffic Education.
Villa has valued the social function performed by the Tutor Police; «that he has been in charge of coordinating the Road Education Conference and that, in addition, during the course he performs numerous functions linked to the educational field related to prevention and mediation for conflict resolution in close collaboration with teachers and parents».
The Road Safety Days promote safe behavior among 5th grade students in their condition as pedestrians, passengers, bicycle drivers and future motor vehicle drivers. “We consider that it is a positive activity to prevent accidents and to promote civic awareness”, as explained by the tutor, Pedro Abril, pointing out that another of the values of this activity is that “it is that the police become closer and the minors perceive her as a friendly and necessary figure for society».
