National Police agents have arrested 40 people in 23 Spanish provinces for possession, production and distribution of child pornography. Among those arrested, there is a man who produced pedophile material who used minor victims from his family environment to create photos and videos with sexual content.
They have participated in the operation more than 200 agents from all over Spain and more than 60 registrations have been made in 32 different provinces. As a result of the searches carried out, the agents have seized 58 mobile phones, 19 computers, 37 hard drives and USB drives, 6 tablets and numerous storage devices.
The investigation was initiated by specialized agents of the Central Cybercrime Unit and has been coordinated with the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Computer Crime. The complexity of the operation has been based on the large number of people analyzed, the numerous police personnel and judicial authorities involved, as well as the thousands of child sexual exploitation files intervened, with their subsequent analysis.
In addition to the 40 people arrested, of which three are minors, The Police have investigated 13 otherswho have not been finally arrested.
The arrests have been made in the provinces of Barcelona (5), Lleida (2), Tarragona (1), Cantabria (1), Balearic Islands (3), Cádiz (2), Jaén (1), Málaga (2), Granada (2), Seville (2), Las Palmas (1), Santa Cruz de Tenerife (1), Ciudad Real (1), Madrid (5), Álava (1), Vizcaya (1), Valencia (3), Toledo (1), Ceuta (1), A Coruña (1), Navarra (1), Zamora (1) and Alicante (1).
Waiting to arrest three other people
Among those detained is a man, producer of illicit material, who used minor victims from his family environment -five of which have been identified- to create photos and videos of child sexual content. Another of the arrested people is a 20-year-old woman who was found to have numerous pedophile content on her mobile phone, specifically in an instant messaging application.
They have also arrested a man who had been sentenced in 2023 to prison for a crime against sexual freedom and indemnity for minors under 16 years of age. In the search of his home, the agents found thousands of files of child sexual material.
On the other hand, the investigation remains open waiting to locate and arrest three other people who are abroadfor which international police cooperation mechanisms have been initiated through EUROPOL and INTERPOL.
