British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s office said Johnson and the leaders of the United States, France and Germany stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of nuclear sites in Ukraine on Sunday in a phone call.
“In a joint phone call, the Prime Minister, President (Joe) Biden, President (Emmanuel) Macron and Chancellor (Olaf) Schulz affirmed their firm commitment to supporting Ukraine in the face of Russia’s invasion of it,” a Downing Street spokesman said in a statement.
The spokesman added that they “emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and security of (Ukrainian) nuclear facilities and welcomed the recent discussions on enabling an International Atomic Energy Agency mission (access) to the Zaporizhia” nuclear facility.
