Ciudad Juárez.- The eighth edition of the “Ya Quisieras Cancer” race reported that 4,000 runners will participate, supported by more than 60 sponsors, among which are Juarez and Japanese companies.
The organization of the race is in charge of the civil association Se Feliz AC, in collaboration with Imagen Diagnóstica, and its objective is to raise funds for various cancer prevention and detection activities, reported Michelle Betancourt, director of the race.
Pavel Chávez, director of Diagnostic Imaging in Ciudad Juárez, explained that the resources are allocated to holding workshops on healthy eating, detection tests such as reactive glucose (“destroxis”) and medical studies such as mammograms, breast ultrasounds and prostate antigens.
“All resources go to studies; This year, before it ends, 600 studies will be carried out,” said Chávez, who added that a part of the funds will also be used to follow up on childhood cancer patients, such as those diagnosed with leukemia.
“It is a pleasure that every year more people continue to join this cause,” commented Jesús Manuel Gamboa, operational and special projects director of Se Feliz AC.
“It is expected that at the end of the race, more than 40 sponsors will offer products such as water, desserts and crafts at the stands,” he added.
The cost of the donation to participate in the race is 350 pesos if the ticket is purchased at the Imagen Diagnóstica branches and 400 pesos on the day of the event.
According to Carlos Antonio López, marketing director of Imagen Diagnóstica, “we seek to raise awareness among Juarenses about cancer prevention, and this race is the most representative in the region.”
The Municipal Institute for Sports also joined the event, supporting the organization with the signaling from the “goal”, personnel, efforts with civil protection, ambulance and dissemination with the media of this city.
The delivery of kits for the runners will take place on Saturday, October 12 at the La Rodadora Museum, from 10:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the afternoon.
In addition, there will be special white t-shirts for cancer survivors, who are invited to receive a “high five” in recognition for their fight, the panel of organizers reported.
The event will take place on October 13 at 8:00 in the morning at the Chamizal Anthropology Museum.
