FC Erzgebirge Aue has parted ways with coach Pavel Dotchev. After the 2:5 home defeat in the 3rd football league game against SC Verl, the club management felt compelled to bring forward the already announced separation at the end of the season. This means that Dotchev’s third engagement in the Erzgebirge ends prematurely. A new coach should come to Aue by the winter break at the latest. Rüdiger Rehm has been under discussion for a long time. Until then, the coaching staff around the previous assistant coach Jörg Emmerich will take care of the team.
“We believed in the team and coaching staff even after four defeats in a row. However, the most recent performances and results speak for themselves. We only got seven points from the last seven home games; last year we were the best home team. We currently lack the conviction to achieve a turnaround in this constellation, to return to the road to success in the long term and to achieve our ambitious goals,” explained sports managing director Matthias Heidrich.
Dotchev managed FC Erzgebirge a total of 171 times. He was coach of the Violets from 2015 to 2017, from 2021 to 2022 and most recently for almost two years. He also worked as a sports director in Aue.
