Day two of the Dutch GP. Max’s performance yesterday was not enough to satisfy the home crowd. To make matters worse, he also had to report to the stewards today because he would have overtaken during a red flag. Fortunately, the stewards judge that Verstappen will not receive any further punishment.
The third F1 session of this weekend will start relatively quietly. Robert Kubica, who replaces Kimi Räikkönen this weekend, is the first driver on track. Just as a few more drivers come onto the track, Carlos Sainz comes off in the Hugenholtz corner. His Ferrari hits the wall hard and the tow truck is allowed to reappear during a red flag.

After a few minutes, the session can resume. Then Max Verstappen immediately shows what he has to offer. On the medium tires he sets the fastest time of the weekend so far. The more the cars drive on the track, the more rubber gets on the asphalt. As a result, Alonso and both Mercedes manage to go a little faster on the soft tires. But if Verstappen also has the soft tires under his Red Bull, he will blow everyone away with a lightning-fast time. This makes him half a second faster than Bottas, who is in P2. This afternoon we will see if Max can convert his speed into pole position for the home crowd.
