Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, to transform Dubai into a bicycle-friendly city, and to highlight it as one of the most active cities in the world and a distinguished place for life, work and visit, the competitions of the third edition of the “Dubai Bicycle Challenge” were launched. One of the most prominent activities of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which is sponsored by the DB World Group, and in cooperation with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, on two different tracks that pass between the most prominent and famous landmarks in Dubai.
The event attracted a record number of 34,897 cyclists of different ages, citizens, residents and visitors, who had a distinguished experience among the most prominent and famous landmarks of the city on Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai, the most important of which are the Burj Khalifa, the Museum of the Future, and the Dubai Water Canal.
The riders set out on two tracks, the first track on Sheikh Zayed Road, which is 12 km long, and extended between the “Dubai World Trade Center” and “Safa Park”, passing over the “Dubai Water Canal” bridge, and the second family track with a length of 4 km, around the “Sheikh Boulevard” Mohammed bin Rashid”, passing through some of the city’s most famous landmarks, including “The Dubai Mall”, “Dubai Opera House”, and “Burj Khalifa”.
